National News: Noida has a new administrative head. Following the transfer of former District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, the Uttar Pradesh government has appointed Medha Rupam, who was serving as the DM of Kasganj, to lead Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

A Familiar Posting for Medha Rupam

For Medha Rupam, this is not unfamiliar territory. She previously held the position of Additional CEO of the Greater Noida Authority, where she contributed to several important development projects. Her earlier tenure in Noida established her reputation as a decisive, efficient, and action‑oriented officer.

Strong Administrative Roots

Coming from a family with a firm footing in governance, Medha has always been close to the world of administration. Her father, Gyanesh Kumar Gupta, is currently serving as the Chief Election Commissioner of India. Growing up with such an influence helped shape her sense of responsibility, discipline, and commitment to public service from an early age.

One of CM Yogi’s Key Officers

A 2014‑batch IAS officer, Medha Rupam is widely considered among Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s most trusted bureaucrats. During her time in Greater Noida, she oversaw several high‑priority state projects, including the Jewar International Airport and the International Film City initiative—both regarded as CM Yogi’s dream ventures. Now, with her return to Noida as DM, there is growing optimism that these projects will progress more rapidly under her leadership.

From Shooting Champion to Civil Servant

Medha Rupam’s journey to the IAS is both unique and inspiring. Before stepping into the world of administration, she was an accomplished shooter. She won three gold medals at the Kerala State Shooting Championship, proving her talent and determination. After achieving success in sports, she decided to take on a new challenge—clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2014 and joining the IAS.

Her Roots and Education

Though originally from Agra, Medha spent most of her childhood in Kerala, where her father was posted at the time. Her early education was also completed there, giving her a wide cultural perspective before she moved into the civil services.

Rising Expectations for Noida

Known for her dynamic, result‑driven approach, Medha Rupam is expected to bring fresh momentum to Noida’s administration. Observers believe her tenure will accelerate key projects like Jewar Airport and Film City, while also pushing broader infrastructure and development work across the district.
